The LORD has brought these charges against those who live in the land:
• There is no faith, no love, and no knowledge of God in the land.
• There is cursing, lying, murdering, stealing, and adultery.
People break {my laws}, and there is one murder after another.
• That is why the land is drying up,
and everyone who lives in it is passing away.
Wild animals, birds, and fish are dying.
. . . All creation is eagerly waiting for God to reveal who his children are . . .

Ok, that sounds kinda weird, but I hope it makes sense.....
Thanks for your comment, Laura. It really makes sense. Although, I would think "the land" means the whole earth. The burden of North America's sins is shared with the rest of the world and much of the world contributes to the sin as well. None are innocent (except of course for the babies).
